Community is at the core of everything we do at Tjinatjarra. Our community access services are designed to provide access to a variety of social and recreational activities. From group outings to special events, our programs aim to build essential life skills, foster social inclusion, and strengthen connections. We encourage our participants to pursue their dreams and achieve their goals, while also inspiring them to set new ones. Our team embraces a non-judgmental attitude, creating an environment where participants can feel confident and enjoy trying something new. We believe in creating opportunities that enhance well-being and celebrate the value of shared experiences.
Our short term accommodation (STA) services provide a safe, nurturing environment where participants can relax and recharge, while their caregivers take a well deserved break. We understand the importance of balanced care, and our respite services are designed to support both participants and caregivers in maintaining their wellbeing. With a focus on comfort and care, we ensure that everyone involved feels valued and supported.

Monica’s Journey: Strength, Culture, and a Bright Future
Monica Ellis, a proud young woman from Amoonguna Community, 15 kilometres southeast of Alice Springs, began her journey with Tjinatjarra in 2023. Diagnosed with a disability, Monica has faced many challenges in finding her place in the world.
Monica’s journey highlights the strength of cultural identity and the importance of a strong support system. With guidance from Tjinatjarra, she has embraced opportunities for personal and professional growth, particularly in the arts. Her passion for visual arts has not only been a creative outlet but also a means of self-expression and connection.
In 2024, Monica proudly earned her Certificate I in Visual Arts, a significant milestone that reinforced her belief in her abilities. This achievement was a testament to her resilience and the unwavering support of those who walked alongside her. Now, in 2025, she is taking her ambitions further, pursuing a Certificate II in Visual Arts at Batchelor College.
Monica’s progress is a powerful reminder that with determination, support, and cultural connection, anything is possible. Her story is one of perseverance and hoping to inspire other young women in her community to embrace their potential and pursue their dreams. As she continues her journey, Monica’s future is filled with possibilities, and she stands as a beacon of strength for others to follow.
